This course introduces students to the foundational principles and clinical concepts of orthodontics and pediatric dentistry through integrated didactic instruction, case-based discussions, and preclinical laboratory experiences. Emphasis is placed on craniofacial growth and development, malocclusion, orthodontic diagnosis, pediatric behavior management, preventive and restorative care, pulp therapy, space management, dental trauma, and evidence-based treatment planning. Students develop foundational knowledge and preclinical skills necessary to recognize, evaluate, manage, and appropriately refer orthodontic and pediatric oral health conditions within the scope of general dental practice.
